By jokeystickers April 14th, 2025 350 views

At Jokeystickers, We are committed to turning your creativity into high-quality stickers. To achieve it, we often ask customers to provide their design source file. But what exactly is a source file, and why is it so important?

What Is a Source File?
A source file is the original, editable version of your design—created in professional software like:

.AI (Adobe Illustrator)

.PDF (Editable, vector-based)

.EPS (Encapsulated PostScript)

.SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)

.CDR (CorelDRAW)

.PSD (Adobe Photoshop)

.INDD (Adobe InDesign, occasionally used)

Unlike image formats like JPG or PNG, these files contain vector paths, layered artwork and editable elements that allow precise customization and scaleable without loss for better printing.

Why Do We Need It?

Great Print Quality – Ensures your stickers are printed clear and in high resolution.
Precise Cut Lines – Helps us define exact cutlines for kiss cut or die cut stickers.
Color Accuracy – Ensures your brand colors are consistent with your design.
Faster Turnaround – Editable files reduce back-and-forth revisions.

How to Know If Your Image Is High-Resolution for Sticker Printing?

Before we print your design as a custom sticker, it’s important to ensure your image is high-resolution. Here’s how you can check:

  1. Check the Image Sizeand Resolution
Ideal resolution: 300 DPI (dots per inch)
At least 1000 pixels on the shortest side
  1. ScaleableWithout Blurring
Open your file and amplify 100%-200%.
If the edges remain clear and not pixelated, it is ready to print..
  1. File Type Matters
Vector files (like .AI, .SVG, .PDF) can be scaled infinitely without losing quality.
Raster files (like .JPG, .PNG) pixel must be large enough to retain clarity.

What If I Don’t Have One?

Don't worry! We can assist you in processing the documents. You just need to provide clear pictures, and we will handle the follow-up for you.

Pro Tips for Clients

Always ask your designer for the source file after a project.
